National Events Series – Regions Rising 2019
The Regional Australia Institute (RAI) is proud to announce its inaugural national events series – Regions Rising 2019.
The series will include a national policy summit in Canberra, to be held in February, as well as an event in each State and Territory during the year.
Regions Rising 2019 creates a national platform for regional leaders to engage directly with key industry representatives, government, political leaders and the community sector on the most important opportunities and challenges facing regions.
RAI CEO Jack Archer says the aim is to create an interactive series of forums to lead the conversation, encourage debate and deliver policy options to government.
“The RAI will use the insights from the events to inform future regional policy, the setting of our research agenda and as well as contribute to the wider national policy debate,” Mr Archer said.
“2019 is a critical time for regions. We need to work together to shape our regional future by focusing on key issues such as population growth, infrastructure, the future of jobs and transitions in industries such as energy.
“More than ever, we need a place where regional leaders can come together to work on the big issues,” Mr Archer said.
With a national election due in 2019, the Canberra event will be an opportunity to hear from key political leaders on regional issues. A “policy hack” will also give participants a chance to put their ideas on the table across major policy issues.
State based events will focus strongly on RAI’s current research conducted within the Shared Inquiry program and how this targeted information is relevant to each specific state. The event will end with a discussion panel of regional industry leaders.
The schedule for Regions Rising 2019 is as follows:
More information about each event and ticketing will be available shortly on the RAI website www.regionalaustralia.org.au.
This event will be open to the public, however, seats will be limited.
