Government invests in Regional Australia Institute policy research program
The Australian Government has announced a further three year investment in the Regional Australia Institute’s (RAI) regional policy research program in tonight’s Federal Budget.
The new Australian Government funding will support the inter-governmental inquiry program which is also supported by State and Territory Governments with regional responsibilities.
RAI CEO, Jack Archer, has welcomed the new investment detailed in the Budget, which extends the Australian Government’s long term support for the RAI.
“Infrastructure, international migration, employment, higher education and many other policy issues that are led by the Commonwealth shape regional Australia’s future,” Mr Archer said.
“Having the Commonwealth and every State around the table for the Shared Inquiry Program is a massive opportunity for future regional policy.
“The Australian Government’s further investment in our work is crucial to regions having a national, independent, evidence informed player in national policy issues.
“This presence ensures that regional issues can better compete for their fair share of policy attention,” Mr Archer concluded.
