Don’t let that lightbulb moment fizzle out!
Have you got a bright idea that you think will benefit your local regional community, but just need a little help to make it happen?
If so, the Regional Australia Institute (RAI) is encouraging you to get online and enter the 2018 Lightbulb Moments Competition – with applications now open.
The aim of the competition is to capture the best ideas for community and regional development across Australia and help the winner and finalists make them a reality.
Last year, more than 150 entries came in from across Australia and RAI CEO Jack Archer anticipates this year’s competition will attract just as many bright ideas.
Jack Archer says an idea can be anything from “just a thought” through to a fully developed project that is already underway.
The competition is run by Australia’s first independent think tank on regional issues, the Regional Australia Institute, in partnership with Prime7 and the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR).
The top 10 entries will win a dedicated Project Development Support Package and the national winner will also get their own TV commercial and Airtime Support Package thanks to Prime7.
Last year’s winner, Sam Marwood from Cultivate Farms is encouraging anyone in regional Australia with a ‘lightbulb moment’ to apply, to help grow their business or community idea.
“Lightbulb Moments has given us the confidence that our idea could really make a difference for regional Australia,” Sam Marwood said.
“Following your dreams and starting a business based on your idea is a big step. To be supported by one of the best organisations who are champions for regional Australia is a massive boost, and enough to turn an idea into a solution for hundreds of regional communities,” Mr Marwood said.
Entries need to be submitted to the RAI by the closing date, Sunday 11 February 2018.
The national winner of the Lightbulb Moments Competition will be announced in early April 2018.
