Growing industry in WA – RAI heads to the west
The Regional Australia Institute (RAI) has announced Perth as the next stop in the ground breaking national roadshow – Regions Rising 2019 – bringing together some of Western Australia’s most influential and forward-thinking minds to put the spotlight on regions.
Co-CEO Liz Ritchie has welcomed Minister for Regional Development, the Hon. Alannah MacTiernan as the event’s keynote speaker, where she will officially unveil the RAI’s latest report – Regional Growth Prospects.
“Regions Rising 2019 is about elevating the discussion of future opportunities in regional Western Australia so that regional leaders can expand their knowledge and engage directly with key decision makers,” Liz Ritchie said.
“From Broome to Bunbury, Port Hedland and Geraldton – and everywhere in between – we invite regional stakeholders across WA to join us and book at seat at the table on June 12 in Perth.
“Our new national report takes at a look at four industries that could play a significant role in regional Australia: food processing, tourism, advanced manufacturing and creative industries and we are keen to show what this will mean for WA,” Ms Ritchie said.
“Regional Australia is changing, and with this transformation comes boundless opportunities to shape the future of our communities, local economies and local jobs.
“Some regions need to gear up to capitalise on future opportunities, and some are ready to grow. This report will outline which ones these are,” Ms Ritchie said.
The theme of this year’s Perth event is Regional Economic Diversification and Jobs.
