Introducing RAI’s newest offering in regional strategy – Pathfinder
The RAI has begun work in the Namoi region of NSW and Toowoomba Surat Basin in Queensland to help local leaders develop innovative ‘global positioning strategies’, to target the areas where they can have the greatest impact on the future of their region. These projects are just the beginning of the RAI’s new offering in the regional strategy space – Pathfinder.
The Pathfinder initiative combines the knowledge and experience of local leaders and stakeholders with RAI’s analytical capability, and unparalleled access to the best available information on regions. This allied approach allows us to focus on the drivers of what’s shaping a region’s future – its “future factors” – over the next 10-15 years. These ‘future factors’ look past the symptoms of change that affect a region, and examine what drives these changes.
Our work in the Namoi region has revealed up to $900 million of extra growth potential that could be realised if the development strategy is right and economic conditions are favourable. The challenge is now to work with local leaders in the region to take action to secure this upside potential. The enthusiasm amongst regional leaders in the Namoi to engage in this project means we are very confident of the region achieving this potential.
