Regional Jobs and Migration in SA – RAI heads to Adelaide
The Regional Australia Institute (RAI) has announced Adelaide as the next stop in the ground breaking national roadshow – Regions Rising 2019 – bringing together some of South Australia’s most influential and forward-thinking minds to put the spotlight on regions.
RAI Co-CEO Liz Ritchie has welcomed Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development, The Hon. Tim Whetstone as the event’s keynote speaker, where he will officially unveil the RAI’s highly anticipated migration toolkit – Steps to Settlement Success.
“Regions Rising 2019 is about elevating the discussion of future opportunities in regional South Australia, so that regional leaders can expand their knowledge and engage directly with key decision makers,” Liz Ritchie said.
“From Naracoorte to Coober Pedy, Mount Gambier and Whyalla – and everywhere in between – we invite regional stakeholders across SA to join us and book at seat at the table on July 10 in Adelaide.
“Our new toolkit, captures the lessons learned by communities around the country who have successfully welcomed migrants to help fill job vacancies and drive the population of their regional towns and cities. We are pleased to be launching this report in SA as the government has been proactive in ensuring that population discussion is a serious priority,” Ms Ritchie said.
In March this year, South Australian Premier Steve Marshall signed a new Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA) with the Morrison Government, aimed at bringing skilled migrants to regions to help fill the skills shortage facing SA.
This toolkit will help guide regional communities, business and the Government in their renewed efforts to attract migrants and, more importantly, see them stay in SA.
The theme of this year’s Adelaide event is Regional Migration and Jobs in SA.
