Regional Jobs – the latest on what’s happening in your area
In July 2019, there were around 46,121 job vacancies advertised across regional Australia. This is an increase from the 43,324 job vacancies advertised in June 2019.
This is relatively consistent with yearly seasonal trends that show an increase in vacancies between June and July.
Vacancy growth is higher in regional Australia than in our capital cities, when comparing vacancy data from July 2017 and July 2019 (6% compared to -3%).

The five regions with the greatest growth rate in vacancies from July 2017 to July 2019 are:
- Hobart & Southeast Tasmania has the highest percentage increase of 40%;
- South West WA saw an increase of 39%;
- Riverina and Murray NSW which increased by 29%;
- Regional Northern Territory increased by 38%; and
- Dubbo and Western NSW increasing by 25%.
Most vacancies are in professional medical jobs, automotive and engineering trade jobs, as well as administrative jobs and sales service jobs.
