The idea to create a travel podcast series about regional Tasmania was sparked by the current tourism boom in the state. While many tourists are being drawn to the capital city of Hobart, Penny Terry saw a need to encourage visitors to explore outside the capital.
The travel podcast series aims to connect audiences culturally and emotionally to regional Tasmania. Each episode will focus on a topic or region, using interviews with community members and tourism operators to share relevant information. They will include recommendations about where to go and what to eat and drink, while introducing listeners to local characters and revealing the best kept local secrets. Sharing stories from people living and working in Tasmania will help to promote it as a great place to visit, live, work and invest.
Getting this travel podcast series off the ground would provide numerous economic, social and cultural benefits to the state of Tasmania. It is aspirational for the listener, promotional for the operators and local communities, and is an innovative way to foster community relationships and drive local economies.
Following the Lightbulb Moments campaign, Healthy Tasmania (previously Travel Like a Local) is actively seeking investment partners to deliver a four hour pilot podcast series, created and produced in Tasmania, helping ordinary people tell their extraordinary stories.
