National Regional Housing Summit

The Regional Australia Institute (RAI) in partnership with the Real Estate Institute of Australia and Master Builders Australia will host the National Regional Housing Summit in Canberra this Friday, 9 February 2024.

The solutions-focused Summit will bring together local, state, and federal government, along with representatives from industry, peak bodies, and the not-for-profit sector as part of a collective effort to shape the future of regional housing policy and investment.

The Summit will focus on the diversity that exists within regional housing markets and through new analysis by the RAI, look at home ownership; rental market trends and innovation; as well as social and affordable housing and homelessness within a regional context.

The CEOs of the three host organisations, the RAI’s Liz Ritchie, REIA’s Anna Neelagama, MBA’s Denita Wawn; and speakers at the Summit will hold a joint press conference at 9:30am.

Keynote addresses will be delivered by the Hon. Julie Collins MP, Federal Minister for Housing; the Hon Michael Sukkar MP, Shadow Federal Minister for Housing; Dr Helen Haines, Independent Member for Indi; Dr Kim Houghton, RAI Chief Economist; and Edwina Brown, Real Estate Institute of NSW Deputy President.

The National Regional Housing Summit is sponsored by Bendigo and Adelaide Bank and is supported by the Australian Forest Products Association and the National Farmers Federation.
